This Air Fryer Granola is a quick and easy way to add crunch and flavour to smoothie bowls, yogurt bowls and more! If you don’t have an air fryer you can still make this homemade granola in the oven. I can’t wait for you to try it!
Ingredients needed
For this homemade air fryer granola, you will need:
Quick oats
You can also use rolled oats in this recipe.
Almonds
I recommend using unsalted sliced almonds or chopping whole almonds into smaller chunks.
Walnuts
Use chopped walnuts in this recipe or chop whole walnuts into smaller pieces.
Sunflower seeds
Make sure you use unsalted, raw and hulled sunflower seeds for this granola.
Coconut oil
You could also use melted butter or a neutral-oil (like canola oil) instead of coconut oil.
Maple syrup
This adds some sweetness to the granola. You could also use honey instead.
Almond butter
Alternatives to almond butter include peanut butter, sunflower butter or Wow butter.
Vanilla extract, cinnamon and salt
These ingredients round out the flavour profile and enhance the taste of the other ingredients.
Some additional add-in ingredients include a variety of different types of dried fruit. For example, dried blueberries, strawberries, raisins, cranberries, goji berries and more. You may also be interested in adding some chocolate chips to the batch after it has been baked and cooled to room temperature.
How to make air fryer granola
A quick prep time and a large batch perfect for meal prep? Count me in! This recipe is super simple and takes only 10 minutes to prepare the mixture. Here’s how to make this air fryer granola recipe:
Mix together the dry ingredients (oats, nuts, seeds, cinnamon and salt) in one bowl.
In another bowl whisk together the wet ingredients (coconut oil, maple syrup, almond butter and vanilla).
Stir the dry and wet ingredients together until it is well incorporated.
Transfer the granola mixture to the airfryer basket or tray (greased or lined with parchment paper) and bake at 300°F for 15-20 minutes. You can also bake this in the oven at the same temperature. You may need to add a few minutes to the baking time, depending on your preferred doneness. Make sure you mix the granola half way through, and then add more time if you want it crunchier.
Does granola crisp up as it cools?
Yes, the granola will become crispier in the 10-15 minutes after pulling it out of the oven. I suggest allowing it to fully cool before consuming it or adding it to a container for storage.
How to store homemade granola
Once the granola has fully cooled, you can store it. I recommend putting it in an airtight container or bag and keeping it in the fridge to last longer. However, if you want the granola to be room temperature, you can keep the container on the counter. It just may not last as long compared to storing it in the fridge. Finally, you can also store it in the freezer to keep it fresher for longer.
Dietary considerations
This Air Fryer Granola is an excellent nutrient boost to any meal or snack it is added to. It’s also possible to make it in a way that supports the health of people with certain dietary restrictions. This healthy recipe is already:
