Notes

Notes and substitutions:

  • Quick oats
    • You can also use rolled oats in this recipe.
  • Almonds
    • I recommend using unsalted sliced almonds or chopping whole almonds into smaller chunks.
  • Walnuts
    • Use chopped walnuts in this recipe or chop whole walnuts into smaller pieces.
  • Sunflower seeds
    • Make sure you use unsalted, raw and hulled sunflower seeds for this granola.
  • Coconut oil
    • You could also use melted butter or a mild-oil (like canola oil) instead of coconut oil.
  • Maple syrup
    • You could also use honey instead.
  • Almond butter
    • Alternatives to almond butter include peanut butter, sunflower butter or Wow butter.

Dietary restrictions:
  • Gluten-free: opt for gluten-free oats and ensure there is no cross contamination with any gluten-containing products.
  • Vegan: make sure you are using maple syrup instead of honey as the sweetener.
  • Coconut-free: opt for a neutral oil (ex. canola oil) or butter instead of the coconut oil.
