In a small pot, stir together 1/4 cup dried red lentils and 1 cup of water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover the pot and cook for 10-12 minutes or until otherwise specified on the package. Drain the water and set lentils aside to cool.
Preheat the oven to 375 °F and line a baking sheet with tin foil.
In a large bowl, add the ground beef, lentils, egg and onion and mix thoroughly.
Mix in the dijon mustard, soya sauce, garlic, turmeric, cumin and worcestershire sauce. Stir together.
Add the bread crumbs, salt and pepper and stir again.
Form the meatballs by taking ~2 tbsp of mixture and rolling into a ball with your hands. Place it on the prepared baking sheet and repeat until all of the mixture is rolled into balls.
Bake for ~20 minutes or until golden brown on the outside.
Serve with rice, pasta or on a salad and enjoy!
Notes
*Alternatively, you can use 1/2 cup of canned lentils.
